have installed the free version of pro to evaluate and requested the 30 day trial in order to see all hardware.
am receiving the \"WMI: the RPC server is unavailable\" on some computers.
Windows Firewall - File and Printer sharing exception is checked, ports 137, 138, 139, 445 opened, allow incoming echo request is enabled,
WMI is installed and appears to be working.
What have I missed?

Hi Ron. If the WMI service is started, then it\'s probably left over from the Windows Firewall. And you may notice these machines are probably all XP.
Version 2.5 will do away with WMI issues like these, but for now you can do one of 2 things. First though, are you running on a domain or a workgroup?
-
sorry - should have said in original post - Domain.
Server is W2K3 all workstations XP SP2

No problem. We followed up with you in email, but you should be able to do the following to get WMI working properly on remote machines in a domain environment:
Just enable \"Allow remote administration exception\" which can be found in the following path of the Group Policy Editor is Enabled: Administrative Templates\\Network\\Network Connections\\Windows Firewall\\Domain Profile
Please let us know if this doesn\'t work for you.

had already done that, however I\'m not sure if GP is propogating to the rest of the network - server has some issues.

From my understanding, it should propagate pretty quickly. We haven\'t heard issues with that, but you\'re saying you think that might be a problem with your server?

our server is in pretty sad shape. will probably end up wiping it and rebuilding.
