Hello,

I am testing this software on a small trial network.

I am receiving this error for my machine:

Can\'t access ADMIN$ share on {MYMACHINENAME}. (Error 5: Access is denied.)

I tried my exact user name and password under \"set credentials\", but that did not resolve the issue.

I have an Administrator account and am running under it.

OS is: Win XP Home Edition - Version 2002 - SP 3

I would like to use such a software for the company I work for, but I need to know it works properly even on such a simple setup.

I was able to locate a few other posts with the same issue, but found nothing that assisted in the solution.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi there.  Unfortunately Newt does not work on XP Home because it lacks true remote administration capabilities (I.E., lacks an ADMIN$ share).  However it works fine with XP Pro, Vista (all flavors including Home & Basic), Windows 2000 and even NT 4.0.  Basically it should work on all Windows machines except XP Home, Win95 and ME.

You might want to try it at work instead or on a machine at home that has XP Pro or Vista.  As long as you can get access to the ADMIN$ share on remote machines, you should be able to scan.
