NEWT Pro Network Inventory - General Discussion / Re: Don't show hardware and software info
« Last post by Komodo Support on November 04, 2017, 12:19:15 AM »We apologize profusely for the massive delay.
This is one of the easiest errors to fix. It simply means you don't have credentialed access and you just need to know the username and password to scan. It also means that if you tried visiting that PC from Windows Explorer (bypassing NEWT Pro completely), it would ask you for a username and password. If you know the username/password, try entering it in Windows. If you get access, then try accessing \\DESK4\ADMIN$ through Windows Explorer. If you can get to that folder, right-click on that DESK4 in NEWT Pro, choose Set Credentials, then enter the same username and password you used in Windows Explorer to get ADMIN$ access.
If you don't know the username/password, you won't be able to deep scan that PC remotely using any software in the world. If that's the case, the only option would be to install NEWT Pro on DESK4 locally and then choose "Scan My PC".
Alternatively, if you're only needing some basic info such as full OS type, PC name, uptime, brand and others, you could use Slitheris Network Discovery, which can detect this info with no credentials or authorization needed whatsoever.
Please let us know if you have any other questions and we'll make sure to reply much more quickly.

« Last post by Komodo Support on October 29, 2017, 05:45:01 AM »That’s a tough one, but let’s see if we can help. I’d venture to say that if you tried visiting \\10.0.0.23 from Windows [Explorer], you’d also not be able to access it, correct? And if that’s the case, then you have an issue that’s a more basic Windows network security problem than something related to our software.
Is it possible your antivirus software includes a firewall that’s enabled?

« Last post by Simon771 on October 18, 2017, 04:46:52 AM »Hi Simon! Yes, you sure can do that, although we want to make it a lot easier in the future.
If you visit the Discovery panel, you should see a File menu with commands to import and export IP ranges. Just export your current ranges and open that CSV in a Notepad (not Excel) and you'll be able to see how the format looks. Just follow the same format and you should be able to import an unlimited number of IP ranges of any size.
This is what it should look like on your export. The "True" bit says that the IP range is enabled. You can use False if you want it disabled by default. There are two Import options, either to Import the file and replace everything, or you can Append IP ranges during Import. Any IP ranges that overlap or duplicates will most likely be automatically disabled and show a note explaining why it was disabled. You can always keep that initial exported list as a backup in case something goes wrong or you can save multiple lists and Import them as needed.
True,192.168.119.1,192.168.119.255,"(Double-click here to edit)"
True,192.168.1.1,192.168.1.255,"(Double-click here to edit)"
True,10.10.0.1,101.110.255.255,"(Double-click here to edit)"
We hope that helps!
Ah silly of me ... not sure how I didn't see "File" in top left corner of discover screen.
Thanks for you info mate

NEWT Pro Network Inventory - General Discussion / Discover option to import IP ranges
« Last post by Simon771 on October 17, 2017, 05:56:31 AM »Hello,
We bought NEWT PRO for 525 nodes not long ago, and I would like to ask if there is any way to import IP ranges in discover panel. Right now I have to write 30 subnets every time I want to scan.
For example we are scanning IP ranges like this:
172.16.10.1 to 172.16.10.255
172.17.5.1 to 172.17.5.255
and 28 other IP ranges.
Is there any way to write those IP ranges in some .txt file and just import it every time?

« Last post by Komodo Support on October 12, 2017, 12:07:19 AM »Hi, error 1061 means that the "service cannot accept control messages at this time". Quoting Microsoft's website, that "There is a temporary mismatch between the requested control and the state of the service to be controlled. The service may be in a state of start-pending, stop-pending, or stopped."
Their solution says to wait a few minutes and try again, but I'm assuming you've done that before posting on our forums.
This issue can be caused by some anti-virus software. May I ask which one you're using?
