No Privileges
« on: January 14, 2004, 09:17:19 PM »
I have read the posts about this topic and my problem still isn't answered.  I have just set up a small 3 pc network detached from my 900 PC domain.  On 1 pc I still get "No Privileges".  There has to be something else - a service that need to run, Guset account, file sharing, a registry key, something??   Now my server, which was scanned before, does not show ant info besides OS.  Any help?  I am evaluating this software for purchase for a client.

Do all Pc's NEED the same NT username and password??  If so, my admin passwords change daily on all local machines, this may be a problem.

Yes, if the machines were detached from a domain and you're now using a Workgroup instead, then all logins and passwords need to be the same.  Much of NEWT's information is retrieved from the registry, but by default, the registry service should be running on all machines.  This and administrator privileges should be the only requirements to allow a proper scan.

Of course until we've completed our software agent, Win9x/ME machines cannot be scanned, although I'm sure you're working with NT-based systems.

One of the top features we're working on is the ability to use alternate logins and passwords.

See following messages for more info about this feature:

I'm curious as to if NEWT Pro was able to scan PCs properly on your 900 PC domain.
