May 17th, 2017 — Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1.220
This release adds a credential-free scan to remotely check for the Microsoft MS17-010 (AKA EternalBlue, NotPetya, Petya, WannaCrypt, WannaCryptor, WannaCry) vulnerability and indicates whether the patch has been applied. This is a follow-up to our May 15th release showing full SMB enabled status and is arguably a much more important feature.
May 15th, 2017 — Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1.219
** Special Security Release **
While Slitheris isn’t known as a security scanner, we felt this security scan feature should be added due to the current security environment and we think it’s one of the easiest ways to remotely verify whether SMBv1 and SMBv2 exists.
We’re also considering adding a check for MS2017-010 SMBv1 (EternalBlue, WannaCry, NotPetya, Petya) patch if there’s enough interest. Please post in our forums, contact us on Facebook or Twitter, or email support@komodolabs.com if you’d like to see a credential-less SMBv1 patch verification feature.
- Added an SMBv1/v2 detection feature to help our users individually discover whether SMBv1 or SMBv2 exists on PCs, servers or other devices that use SMB. allows IT security professionals to perform a remote credential-less check for SMBv1 existence when choosing to disable the deprecated SMBv1 protocol. Users may wish to do this as an extra precaution due to the historic May 2017 ransomware known as WannaCryptor (aka WannaCry). It can also be used to verify SMBv2 exists on NAS’s or other specialized network devices prior to performing removal of SMBv1 on various Windows systems.
- New columns on new releases were ending up at the far right, causing users to miss newly added features. To keep new columns more obvious, column settings may be reset on some releases until a new column handling method is developed.
- Removed ‘Scan Difficulty’ column as it was confusing and not currently useful to users.
- Beta Mode wasn’t being enabled for users with beta licenses.
- Slightly faster scanning for some PCs and Servers.
- Minor improvements detecting OS on Windows machines with SMBv1 disabled.
May 1st, 2017 — Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1.218

January 17th, 2017 — Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1.217
- Added portable feature to allow MSPs (Managed Service Providers) and others to create a fully portable version of Slitheris on thumb drives or any removable drive with a drive letter. Local admin rights are still required on the PC you’re scanning from. This new feature is accessible from the File menu.
- Fixed “Discovered By” column showing unpingable devices as pingable. Devices found by ARP ping or other means should now be properly indicated.
January 2nd, 2017 — Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1.202

November 8th, 2016 — Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1.198
- ADDED: New experimental Device Age Detection based on various methods, including the MAC address. Estimates are given by year, with varying degrees of accuracy. We believe this is the world’s first and only network device age detection of its kind. Due to the MAC addresses being used for estimates, most devices should return an age, even on most out-of-band (OOB) network devices. This may be useful for MSPs & IT Service Providers, as well as technical refreshes, tracking down older security devices for replacement or simply curiosity.
