Introducing
Slitheris Network Discovery
The world’s first and only network scanning tool capable of safely enhancing any
Spiceworks device inventory FREE in as little as 15 minutes!
(tutorial available)
For demonstration purposes, our inventory is intentionally missing more data than average.
Spiceworks Inventory is used by millions of IT pros every day, all over the world.
Since it’s not a perfect world, there may be missing
Device Names, Windows, iOS, & Android Operating Systems, or Manufacturers
in Spiceworks Inventory due to credential or configuration issues. Device Types may also be Unknown.
Just those 4 fields can often help identify network devices such as
PCs, servers, switches, printers and even iPhones.
Slitheris Network Discovery uses cutting-edge scanning technology developed at Komodo Labs to help populate your device inventory.
This is done by importing a special Spiceworks-compatible CSV, generated by our new export tool.
We adhere to all Spiceworks guidelines and only replace missing data.
Averaging just one minute saved for each field discovered, with Slitheris
you could save hours or days of research!
How to improve your Spiceworks Inventory with Slitheris Network Discovery
How does this all work? When Slitheris starts, it attempts to detect Spiceworks installation, and if found, reveals the Spiceworks-related features in the interface. Don’t worry about data marked “trial”, it will be revealed during the export process. After scanning with Slitheris, the “Spiceworks Export” button will back up your production database, load the Device table from that backup, and merge Slitheris results into it using MAC and IP address to make positive matches. It then displays a convenient preview that puts you in control. There are various options allowing you to flip between Spiceworks results vs. Slitheris so you can see exactly what will be changed. You can also copy your enhancement scores to share with others. Clicking the Export button generates a CSV specifically tailored to your inventory. Importing this CSV into Spiceworks with the correct options gives you the final result. This can be done at any time in the future to freshen your inventory.
Although this tool was thoroughly tested, you should always back up your database before making mass changes.
Regular backups are highly encouraged according to Spiceworks support.
Start by downloading and installing Slitheris Network Discovery v1.1

Have questions or need help? Just ask us on our Spiceworks vendor page!
Slitheris automatically finds your Spiceworks database, makes a temporary backup to read from, and shows you a preview.
Anywhere we see color is where Slitheris believes our inventory was improved.
Click Export CSV and Slitheris will create a customized CSV specifically for your Spiceworks Inventory.
(For convenience, Slitheris will typically default to your Spiceworks ‘db’ folder)
If you’re having any problems at this point, please contact us through our forums or email.
Switch to Spiceworks Inventory and choose Devices under the My Network menu.
For tutorial purposes, we may be starting off with more empty fields than yours may be. No credentials were entered.
(you can get here by selecting ‘Devices’ under the ‘My Network’ menu)
Then choose Import CSV under the Add Device button and Slitheris will typically default to your DB folder.
Choose the “I want to update existing devices” option, click Upload and choose the custom CSV exported from Slitheris, then click Import.
Wait about 30 seconds for processing time.IMPORTANT: In the Spiceworks import screen, make sure to choose Update Devices and the other option is disabled.
All done! Just choose Devices under the My Network menu, then sit back and enjoy your new Spiceworks device inventory!
Tip: This process can be repeated as often as needed because Slitheris only replaces empty data. This is useful when many new devices or PCs are added to the network.
So, did Slitheris help you today? If so, why not let others know in the Spiceworks Community?
You could also give us a shout out on our Spiceworks Vendor Page
and tell us what you liked or hated or what you’d like to see next!
Note that if Spiceworks Inventory detects different or better information later,
Slitheris values should be overwritten in favor of Spiceworks data.
Being an emerging technology, some results may be imperfect, but we’re always trying to improve.
