Host 192.168.x.x is unreachable... Firewall connectivity
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:00:54 PM »
Hey guys, I seem to be having an issue with discovering some machines that have firewalls turned on whilst others may work, any idea what port needs to be given an exception, or what exceptions need to be set to run the scan remotely on someone\'s machine? Thanks in advanced for your help.

Hello there.  For the Windows Firewall, you only need to enable the \"File and Printer Sharing\" exception and \"Remote Administration\" if it\'s listed.

On other firewalls, these are ports 137, 138, 139 & 445.  Basically you\'re opening Windows file sharing, which is what Newt and other products would use.

Please let us know if that helps you get a successful scan.
